Pekin Methodist Church was built and dedicated on July 22, 1906. Rev. John McFall was the acting minister at this time. After many updates and improvements to the church, along with a merger in the Methodist and United Brethren churches, 8.1 acres were purchased in 1975. The church’s name was changed to Pekin United Methodist Church. Ground breaking services were held in May 1980, making the first service in the new church to be held on December 23, 1980. Our Pastor at this time was Ira Shaw. Many updates and additions have been made, such as a bell tower (1980), new parsonage (1982), shelter house (1997), and a family life center (2002). Currently, Christopher White is our pastor and has been with our church since July 2020. In 2023 the congregation made the decision to switch to a Global Methodist denomination, changing its name to Pekin Methodist Church.
We offer Sunday school services for children and adults starting at 9:00am, followed by our regular church service at 10:00am. Together we strive to grow in faithfulness to God, in love for people both inside and outside our fellowship, and in acceptance of each person as a child of God. We invite you to join us on a journey towards a personal relationship with Jesus. You will always be welcome here. Hope to see you Sunday.
