The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt. Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty! Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits your house, O Lord, forevermore. –Psalm 93
There comes a time when we stop pretending to worship God and begin to realize that God is more than an imaginary idea. To be able to worship God with pure authenticity means that we have a personal relationship with the all-powerful, majestic, eternal, and holy Father. The author of this Psalm uses the basic terms “majesty,” “strength,” “eternity,” and “holiness” to describe the Father. In the New Testament, Paul wanted to personalize worship with the Father and encouraged Timothy to personalize his worship with the Father.
The truth is simple: stop trying to ‘worship’ God in the same way that your parents taught you. Stop thinking that there is only one way to worship and serve God. Take the time to remember Paul’s words and have an authentic relationship with the Father. How you worship may not be how someone else does, but that’s alright! In biblical truths about God and Christ…here is the basis of authentic worship:
which he will display at the proper time—he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.–
1 Timothy 6:15-16
